Making Flower Water

This flower water can be used for cleansing and healing.

When creating your flower water you have two options. The traditional way is using a base of alcohol + water however, if you are sensitive to alcohol you may use a base of spring water. If you decide to go with a base of spring water your solution will need to be refrigerated in order to stay fresh for about one week. If you go with a base of alcohol + water, your solution will not need refrigeration and may essentially last many months. For the base of alcohol + water I suggest using a high quality, organic vodka which is already mixed at a ratio of 60% water to 40% alcohol.

During this practice we explore the alchemy of plants infused in water.

The beautiful works of Dr. Masaru Emoto, a Japanese scientist, confirm what Shaman have known for thousands of years. Thoughts and vibrations affect the molecular structure of water. Therefore, when you are blending your flower water, pay special attention to your thoughts. When you have a bottle filled with positively charged water and sacred plants, you have in front of you a very powerful medicine for healing.

STEPS

It is best to prepare your flower water on a cloth in nature.

If you are using a recycled bottle please thoroughly wash with hot water and mild soap.

Gently place all of your elements on the cloth, including your small glass bottle, pure spring water or organic vodka and your selected plants. Please choose at least 1 plant from each category - 1 fresh, 1 dried, and 1 spice. Therefore your flower water will contain a minimum of 3 plants. However, you may include as many plants as you like, in whatever quantity you feel. Above is a traditional list of suggestions but please expand beyond this list to include additional plants you love.

For example, a bottle may contain a mix of ginger (fresh), mint (dried) and thyme (spice). Perhaps you put in a tiny piece of ginger with lots of mint and just a pinch of thyme. Use your intuition to measure the quantity of each plant.

Begin by slowly filling your glass bottle with the plant matter. As you do this connect with each individual plant, massaging it, taking in its aroma, and asking the plant to please release its healing properties into your bottle. Take your time with this process and look at this practice as a meditation for you to connect with the plants.

When you are finished adding each plant, slowly begin to pour in the liquid, either the spring water or organic vodka. Leave a bit of room at the top and when the bottle is almost full, place the lid on.

To activate your flower water and tune it to your vibration, hold the bottle between the palms of both hands and roll gently forward and backwards. Continue this for a few moments. You may use your flower water straight away or you may feel called to let it blossom on your altar for a few days.

As time passes, you will notice the liquid absorbs the color and aroma of the plants. This is especially true if you use the organic vodka. Often times you will see this as you observe the liquid turning a golden to dark amber color. If you used spring water, please do not refill the bottle as it has a limited life and must be refrigerated. If you selected the organic vodka, as you use the liquid, you may keep topping it off, so it could essentially last for many years.

TIPS

Please remember if you use spring water it must be refrigerated.
